You’ve contacted Australis removals, now what?

It’s a well-known idiom that moving house is stressful; it’s right up there on that top ten list of most demanding things we humans do. So it’s a logical leap that you’ll want to minimise stress as much as possible on moving day.

To help calm your nerves and let you know what to expect from Australis Removals, we’ve prepared this guide to how we operate after you contact us. After all, if you know what’s going to happen, you’ll stress less and maybe even push moving out of that top ten!

We’ll give you a removals quote based on your individual requirements

  • Each move is different, so we’ll ask you for a list (preferably written) of items that you want us to move for you. You also tell us the’ moving from’ and ‘moving to’ suburbs, whether your property has any access issues like stairs, (including whether there’s an elevator) unusual entry points (like having to walk to the back of a large apartment complex) and how best to access your property. It’s also a good idea to tell us if some items will be difficult to remove (there was this couch once that had to go over the neighbour’s fence…)
  • Based on the information you give us, we’ll provide you with an accurate quote that reflects your individual removal needs. Our quote is based on everything you’ve told us about your removal needs and the only time it would change is if circumstances differ to those you’ve conveyed (such as there are additional items to take when we arrive for pick-up, or the access to either property is more difficult/time consuming than advised). Of course this is all covered in the paperwork we provide.

Confirming all the details

  • On acceptance of our quote (if you can do this in writing via email, that’s great!) we’ll discuss the most convenient form and timing of payment with you. We’re flexible and accept EFT, cash or cheque. We can arrange instalment payments if that suits you best, but we do require payment in full by the time we deliver your goods to their new home.
  • Once these details have been agreed, we’ll confirm it all in writing including your date of pick up and date of delivery.
  • At this stage, we also confirm that we have all the necessary contact details for responsible people at each end of the pick-up and delivery, and you have numbers to call us if needed.

We’ll confirm arrangements ahead of time

  • The day before pick-up, we’ll ring you to confirm the time that we’ll be there (we know you’re probably concerned and want to know we’re ready to roll!). We do our absolute best to be right on time, but if for some reason we are running late on the day, we’ll ring you to let you know. Our track record is pretty good, though, and we’re almost always there within 10 minutes either side of the nominated time.
  • The day before delivery, (assuming delivery day is different to pick-up day, say if you’re moving from Adelaide to Melbourne) we’ll ring you with the delivery time and follow the same time-conscious process as with the pick-up.

What happens on moving day?

  • On arriving at your property, we’ll assess how you’ve packed everything up and work out the best way to load your goods into our removalist vehicle so that they will travel safe and protected.
  • We give your goods their own space: if there are any other jobs in the truck before or after yours, we separate the loads with dividers. It’s more economical for everyone and means there’s no confusion at all!
  • When we arrive at your delivery point, we’ll discuss with you where you want us to place everything. (If you can give us a handwritten diagram for major items ahead of time, this helps a lot.) Once we know where you want things to go, we’ll get to work unloading and setting up your new home.

Continuous service improvement

  • We love to do a good job. We also want to know how, and in what specific ways, we could improve. Once your job is complete, we’ll send you an email with a link to a form on our website asking for feedback and suggestions for improvement. We take your feedback seriously and are continuously striving to provide the best, least stressful moving experience possible.
